Vehicle Stop Turns into Drug and Weapons Charges

On Tuesday January 23rd, 2018 at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Loon Lake Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Highway #699, west of Loon Lake, Sk. Investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle did not possess a valid driver’s license, and the member detected an odour of what was believed to be marihuana.

A search was conducted and 44 packages of marihuana and a large machete were located within the vehicle.


Kirk Crookedneck, male, aged 25 years, of Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation was charged with:
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Section 5 of the CDSA
• Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public – Section 88 of the CC
• Obstruction – Section 129 of the CC
Crookedneck has been released by a Justice of the Peace to appear in Loon Lake Provincial Court on March 22, 2018.

A 21-year-old female of Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation was charged with Drive without a Valid Driver’s License – Section 32 of the TSA.
