Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Efforts Result in Arrest

On Feb. 4, 2018 at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) was conducting patrols when they observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a hotel. The CRU unit conducted a traffic stop and determined through their investigation that the vehicle was stolen. The driver of the vehicle was arrested without incident. During a search of the vehicle, police seized three firearms, ammunition, and a small amount of methamphetamine.

The 37-year-old male of Grande Prairie has been charged with the following Criminal Code Offences:

 

· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 x 4

· Unlawful possession of firearm in a vehicle x 3

· Unlawful possession of ammunition in a vehicle

· Possession of a controlled substance

He has been remanded in custody to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Feb.8, 2018.
