Assault Interrupted By Bystander With a Shovel – It’s a Saskatchewan Thing…

On March 25, 2018 at 6:07 p.m. Prince Albert Police Service was dispatched to 1500 Block 9 Avenue West on a report of an assault.

Police arrived on scene and interviewed the victim and several witnesses. The victim had been driving up West Hill and was being followed closely by a van that was driving aggressively and honking. The victim pulled his vehicle over in the parking lot of Parkland Hall to allow the vehicle to pass. The van followed him into a the parking lot and the male driver from the van approached the male victim and started striking him in the face.


A nearby bystander intervened with a shovel and the suspect fled.

The victim was transported to hospital by Parkland Ambulance as a precautionary measure.

Witnesses provided a license plate number and police tracked the suspect vehicle to a residence on 1500 12 Street West. The suspect male was located at the residence and arrested by officers.

A 41-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with three assault related charges and will make his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.
